Kiss Your Chapped Lips Goodbye!
Spring is right around the corner and it’s time to say goodbye to winter and everything it has brought with it—especially chapped lips! Spring is a time for renewal and what better place to start than with yourself? Most people find themselves not being able to get their soft, smooth lips back after the cold, dry weather. Take a look at our five effective remedies for chapped lips and kiss your troubles goodbye!
Aloe Vera:
If you’re anything like me, your lips probably get chapped to the point where they start cracking and even bleeding. This is caused by the dry weather and gets worse if you lick your lips frequently. For intensive treatment, rub aloe vera into your lips and let it’s healing properties moisturize and repair your chapped lips.
Water:
It sounds obvious, but many people don’t realize that dehydration is one of the most common causes of chapped lips. Drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day will keep your body and lips hydrated and moisturized! Try increasing your water intake by adding more fruits and vegetables into your diet, which contain a large amount of water.
Cucumber:
Who said cucumbers are only for your eyes? Rubbing cucumber slices onto your lips can heal dry, chapped lips because of its hydrating and cooling properties.
Coconut Oil:
Coconut oil is rich in vitamin E, making it great for hair, skin, and lips! Lathering a generous amount onto your lips in the morning and before bed helps reduce dryness and repair cracks that may have formed. Rub the extra oil onto your hands to heal dry palms as well!
Honey and Lemon:
If your lips are cut, this method is not recommended! Honey and lemon both contain healing properties that are great for chapped lips, but because of the lemon’s acidity, applying this mixture onto cut lips will cause more harm than good—no one wants their lips to burn or swell from irritation! If your lips are not cut, however, applying this mixture before bed will moisturize your lips throughout the night, and allow you to wake up with smooth lips. Need faster results? Adding sea salt or sugar will turn this mixture into a lip scrub!
